London is one of the most visited cities in the world. It is steeped in a great deal of history and culture and certainly has a great deal on offer for any intrepid traveller to see and do. If you are planning a trip to the English capital then consider these top places to visit in London.
Leicester Square is certainly one of the top destinations in the city. Leicester Square is where all of the film premiers are held in the capital and there are several different cinemas on offer in the area. It is an extremely vibrant and busy place with all sorts of different restaurants, cafes, bars, casinos, and other entertainment facilities for you to enjoy.
If you want to go shopping then you certainly cannot miss out on Oxford Street and Regent Street. This is the longest shopping district in the whole of Europe and stretches for roughly 1 1/2 miles through London. The streets are connected by Oxford Circus and pretty much every single brand and shop you can imagine will be situated somewhere in the area. If you are looking to travel to the city during Christmas time then the entire street is lit up with decorations, something which is great fun for both adults and children alike.
Of course, the city is famous for its iconic buildings and it would be a huge shame to miss out on seeing them during your visit. One of the most famous places to visit would certainly be Westminster Abbey and the Palace of Westminster. The Palace of Westminster includes the very iconic Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament.
In addition, you absolutely must take a trip to St James's Park. This park is situated between Buckingham Palace and horseguards Palace. Of course, seeing Buckingham Palace itself, the official residence of the Queen, should be right at the top of your list. Remember that it is only open to the public during the summer season and therefore if you are travelling during the winter then you may not be able to gain entry.
There are so many other destinations that you can visit in the city. Such places as Canary Wharf, Tower Bridge, the London eye, St Paul's Cathedral, and Trafalgar Square are all extremely popular.
Then, of course, there are the fabulous museums and art galleries as well. If you go to Kensington and then you will gain access to the science Museum as well as the magnificent Natural History Museum.
